Within ten minutes drive of our cosy cottages, you can have access to miles of stunning sandy Northumbrian beaches, Cocklawburn Beach is on our doorstep, The Holy Island of Lindisfarne a ten minute drive, Bamburgh and the Farne Islands half an hours drive away and to the north of Berwick-upon-Tweed the fabulous rocky cliffs and promontories that are St.Abb’s Head, Coldingham Bay and Eyemouth.

The Cottages

Shepherd’s Cottage - A detached cottage sleeping 6 with a large secure garden.

Geary Shiel – situated on the riverside- has all accommodation on the ground floor.

South Bells Shiel – situated on the riverside- has accommodation on two floors.

Eden cottage – is the first cottage in the row of three. All the accommodation is on the ground floor. Ideal for a couple.

Till Cottage – is the middle cottage in the row of three. All the accommodation is on the ground floor.

Tweed Cottage – is the last cottage in the row of three. All the accommodation is on the ground floor.

General Information

  • Comprehensive tourist information and local maps provided in each cottage.
  • Garden furniture and barbeques available at all the cottages.
  • Bed linen is supplied in all the cottages and each bed has a duvet and two pillows per person.
  • Bath and hand towels are provided in all the cottages, and consist of one each per person booked to stay, along with bath mats.
  • Electric blankets are supplied on all beds at cooler times of the year.
  • Hairdryers are provided in each cottage.
  • Tea towels, dish cloths, toilet rolls and cleaning agents are provided in all the cottages.
  • Cots and high chairs are available on request. Please bring your own cot bedding.
  •  Log fires are available in all the cottages from October to the end of April this is inclusive of the rental. At other times a charge will be made for logs.
  • Electricity : the first £10 (£15 in Shepherds Cottage) of electricity is included in the rental. Anything over that will be charged for at the end of the stay.
  • Pets: One well-behaved dog is welcome in each of Eden, Till, Tweed and Shepherds Cottages at the owner’s discretion. The dog may not be left unattended in the property, allowed on the furniture or in the bedroom. Guests are respectfully asked to exercise their dogs away from the back lawns and cut roadside verges. There is a charge of £15 for a dog.
  • Smoking is not permitted inside any of our cottages.
  • Television: Each cottage is equipped with a LCD flat screen TV and DVD player. There are also CD/ radio players in each cottage. DVDs are available to hire from the farmhouse.
  • Groceries: An order can be taken and placed in your cottage for your arrival.

North Northumberland……..land of castles and stately homes, fabulous gardens, wild walks, deserted beaches and famous fishing beats, come and base yourself in one of our cosy West Ord holiday cottages to sample some of the best of our rich local heritage and landscape.

……..walking along the banks of the Tweed, supper in a local pub…….cycle the coastal path breath taking views, pick up supper..fresh local fish…or meat produced on our Northumbrian farms.. .visit a castle……enjoy!
